B+Y donated services to build six apartments on a 50'x125' Denver lot for the Brent Eley Foundation called Brent's Place (1129 East 17th Street, Denver, CO).
Brent's Place grew from the need for temporary, low-cost, "clean" housing for families with children undergoing bone marrow transplantation for cancer treatment. Brent's Place provides a refuge for families with children for whom even a minor viral infection can be life threatening. This "clean" environment prevents their being exposed to others who may prove harmful to them. Brent Eley Foundation offers a HOMEStay program that provides for the needs of families with children receiving long-term treatment at Denver-area children's hospitals. It makes the time in Denver a little easier by providing really basic needs - shelter, food, and peer support. Families face many fears of the unknown when they come here with a critically ill child. The goal of the Brent Eley Foundation is to alleviate some of the stress associated with these circumstances, supplying a necessary link in the chain of caring for children with cancer and other life threatening diseases. B+Y received a Community Service Award from the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Denver for contributions to Brent's Place.
